The London Branch of the Shiatsu College is based at The Helios Centre in Kilburn. There are various ways to find us, travelling on the underground to Kilburn, the Overground to Brondesbury and Thameslink to Cricklwood. We are then two stops away by bus or a 10 min walk. All stations have a high street with various coffee shops, takeaways, small restaurants and pubs serving food and drink. We attract students from many different countries and backgrounds, all coming together to experience the personal and enriching art of learning Shiatsu in a welcoming and supportive atmosphere. All our classes are taught by experienced teachers who are passionate about Shiatsu. We are now accepting enrolments for the Level 4 Diploma in Shiatsu and its first-year Bodywork for Wellbeing certificate.

London branch

Teacher Claire Gilliver

BA(hons) FwSS Claire heads the Brighton Branch. She is a member of the Shiatsu Society UK, and qualified as a Professional Shiatsu Practitioner in 2007. She has a thriving Shiatsu practice in Brighton; specialising in psychological and emotional health. Also practising at Southdown’s Housing Trust, Mental Health Recovery Centre, (previously the NHS) for over 14 years; dedicated to taking Shiatsu out into the community. Her passion for teaching arrives from her ability to make life in the classroom accessible and enjoyable for all. Her teaching style and humour, with background in Fine Art and Design, brings the theory side of the course to life and opens up students’ potential. Claire also teaches Qigong, and brings this meditative ancient art form as a teaching tool in the Shiatsu classroom and workshops.

Teacher Annie Cryar

BSc Cert.Ed(1974) FwSS Annie qualified as a teacher (QTS) in the early 1970’s. Her love of the art of teaching and life long learning continues. Annie’s Yoga practice also spans decades and she qualified to teach Scaravelli Inspired Yoga, at the same time discovering Qigong as part of her Shiatsu studies. She is committed to helping students find the best in themselves to teach the form, the essence and the spirit of Shiatsu, Qigong and Yoga. Her love of Shiatsu and its amazing potential for supporting people through their journey in life has never diminished.

Teacher Cat Westwood

BA Hons SrSS T CYT Cat's interest in Shiatsu developed originally from her dance training in Body Weather Laboratory - a Japanese contemporary dance form which utilises nature and the environment. After studying with Oguri in Los Angeles in 2010, she went on to train in Zen Shiatsu with the Shiatsu College Brighton. Cat is also a Meridian Yoga Teacher and International Movement Artist. Cat has experience working in a variety of settings, including the Martlets Hospice in Hove and with the Lewes FC Mental Well-Being football teams project. She continues to develop her bodywork practice by attending regular CPD courses and is now a Teacher and manager at Shiatsu College Norwich. Cat also manages and teaches the 'Teach Yoga Naturally', a Yoga Teacher Training course in Norwich.

Branch Administrator Christian Huber

FwSS Christian is a committed advocate for Shiatsu and has recently taken over the running of the London branch from and with the support of Jane Lyons. In 2007 he started studying at the London branch of the College and did his final year in Hastings. After graduating he worked as a teaching assistant at the London branch. Christian had the privilege of studying with Susumu Kimura Sensei in the spring of 2014 in Tokyo. In 2017 he completed the College’s 2 year Qigong Teacher training course under Annie Cryar and her team. He looks forward to helping to develop the London branch with his Shiatsu colleagues and gain further skills as a practitioner and Qigong teacher.

Teacher Jane Lyons

BA(Hons) ITEC FwSS Jane Lyons is passionate about Shiatsu and she loves the honesty and integrity of the connection that it allows between people. Her students particularly love the clarity, energy, imagination and humour of her teaching. Jane has been teaching Shiatsu since 1991, she is also a Ki Aikido Teacher, an approved Shiatsu Society (UK) assessor, a trained Massage Therapist, a visual artist and member of the Ki Federation of Great Britain.

Teacher Daniela Voit

MSc MRSS Daniela graduated from Shiatsu College London in 2017. During her 3 years of assisting at the Shiatsu College, she started her journey to becoming a Shiatsu Teacher and has been part of the teaching team since autumn 2022. Daniela has also been studying Sei-Ki with Alice Whieldon since her second year of Shiatsu studies and attended extensive Sei-Ki Training in Manchester in 2018-2019. She continues to expand her Sei-Ki experience by attending workshops with Alice and is hoping to be teaching Sei-Ki in the future. Alongside building her Shiatsu and Sei-Ki practice in Southwest London Daniela is a Climate Activist and committed to helping societal systems to change through community and grassroots organising. Daniela is most interested in the beautiful connections between beings that arise through touch and the interconnectedness of all beings through Ki as well as a return to our lost connection to nature.
